EVENT: Deane Parker Film Premiere: 'Following Footsteps of River Runners.'

Three Men in Packrafts on a River

Come and watch the premiere of Dean Parker's EPIC packrafting film 'Following Footsteps of River Runners.'

Watch the Christchurch premiere of the film Following 'Footsteps of River Runners' by Deane Parker and Dylan Gerschwitz.

49 years ago, John Mackay and two others set off to tube raft one of the most challenging rivers in NZ. They survived and the tale was published in the book John authored, 'Wild Rivers'.

How much easier would the route be five decades later with state-of-the-art equipment?

Join the team of 5 to follow the footsteps of these early river runners into the wilderness of the Kahurangi National Park via the Karamea River. It's dedicated to the river runners that came before us.

After the screening, there will be a Q&A with Deane Parker, so come prepared with all your questions - about the film, about film making etc.

When: Thursday, 24th October 2024.

Where: Further Faster, 57A Buchan St, Sydenham, Christchurch.

Time: Doors open 6.15 pm for a 6.30 pm start.

Tickets: $15 from Humanitix, with all money going to Million Meters charity to help restore rivers, wetlands and streams with native plants and trees!
